The French days of the week reveal the ancient Roman influence on the language. Lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi and vendredi are named after the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus. Only samedi and dimanche break the pattern, coming from Hebrew and Latin religious roots respectively.
